    Our fast-paced Calgary office is looking to hire a highly capable Civil Engineering Technologist to work with our water, wastewater and stormwater practices, currently servicing clients in both Alberta and British Columbia. Our water practice in Calgary is growing and we anticipate that this position will support our land development, local government water and wastewater facility planning, and design and construction services work.


    As a Civil Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for working alongside our team of engineering, planning and drafting specialists to translate high level conceptual designs from preliminary, through to detailed design. The entire spectrum of work is something that our team members navigate and explore every day. Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following (but not limited to):


    • Development of stormwater, sanitary and potable water models;
    • Development of figures and drawing sets to support reports;
    • Development of water and wastewater facility design drawings (P&IDs, lift stations, reservoirs, pump stations, control structures);
    • Assisting with stormwater report preparation and data manipulation;
    • Assisting with project documentation;
    • Carrying out design drawing tasks and/or AutoCAD assignments; 
    • Support engineering personnel in field with design, drawing production and/or construction specifications;
    • Ensuring quality control of your design production work;
    • Communicating with project leaders;
    • Performing a variety of defined assignments with independent judgment;
    • Advising and review of technical challenges; and
    • Assisting with project timelines and ensuring deadlines are met.


    About You


    Our ideal candidate will be a new or recent graduate from an accredited Civil Engineering Technology program or equivalent with a strong desire to grow their career in the water, wastewater and stormwater fields. Those candidates with previous related work or co-op experience will be given preference and in addition we are looking for the following skills, strengths and interests:


    • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (required);
    • Experience and/or proficiency with Plant 3D design software (such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Bentley AutoPLANT) would be of benefit;
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office software; 
    • Experience and understanding of GIS an asset;
    • Familiarity with various piping design codes including ASME section B31 and ASME Section VII an asset;
    • An understanding of, or previous experience with, hydraulic fundamentals including pressurized and gravity systems;
    • Certification or eligible for certification with ASET (Alberta) with CET designation of higher, or ASTTBC (BC) with A.Sc.T.;
    • Strong analytical and spatial reasoning skills;
    • Excellent drafting skills and knowledge of drawing set-up and production;
    • A keen eye for detail and take great pride in your work, in projects both large and small;
    • Effective communication and writing abilities;
    • Committed to ongoing personal and professional development;
    • Valid class 5 drivers license
