    About the Opportunity

     

    Our thriving Transportation Design Production Team (TDPT) is an integral part of our practice and is looking for the next capable and enthusiastic Transportation Design Technologist to join of our team. Our TDPT members enjoy working alongside industry leaders on exciting and challenging projects that make a visible difference in many communities throughout North America.

     

    In this role you work with an experienced team of engineers and technologist and provide support to our senior practitioners while also developing your own skills and career as a designer in a fast-paced environment on exciting high-profile infrastructure projects. You will also play a key contributing role in mentoring junior designers and fostering their development. Your abilities to engage and contribute are only limited by your own ambition.

     

    Specifically, you can expect to be involved in:

     

    • Providing design and modelling expertise, using Civil 3D to support both small scale and large multi-disciplinary projects
    • Apply and continue to develop civil engineering skills and an understanding of best practices in a practical, real world setting
    • Assisting in preparation of cost estimates, by way of quantity take-offs
    • Proactively and professionally communicating with contractors, colleagues, clients and the general public
    • Demonstrating a commitment to learning through the ongoing achievement of personal and professional goals

     

    About You

     

    Our preferred candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Engineering Technology diploma program or equivalent, with a focus on traffic / transportation engineering as well as a minimum of 3 years’ experience with a focus on transportation and municipal road design and production. However, we are open to considering individuals with other experience levels who can also offer complementary skills that fit with our practice vision and company culture. In addition, the following attributes would be considered of great benefit to this role:

     

    • Accomplished in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil design software
    • A keen eye for details and take great pride in your work, both the large marquee projects and the small but significant ones
    • Experience coaching and mentoring junior members of a team
    • An interest in liaising with members of project teams to ensure design and production aspects are completed to superior quality and on budget
    • Ability to thrive in fast paced environments; enjoy the challenge of changing situations and working with clients
    • Assist in our quality control checks by leveraging your experience and verifying accuracy of the team’s work
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal)
    • Committed to ongoing personal and professional development
    • AScT designation not required but considered an asset.
